Lucknow. Yogi government has prepared a big relief for the paddy farmers of Uttar Pradesh. The state government has set a target of purchasing 65 lakh tonnes of paddy from farmers in the Kharif marketing season 2026-27. It is estimated that about Rs 16 thousand crore will reach the rural economy through this purchase. With this scheme of the government, lakhs of farmers of the state will get a better opportunity to sell their produce.
Farmers will not have to wander here and there to sell paddy. The government has made arrangements to purchase paddy through about 4,500 procurement centers in the state. Food Corporation of India (FCI) centers will also be included in these centres. The procurement process will continue till 28 February 2027.
Farmers will get extra money along with MSP
The central government has set the minimum support price (MSP) of common paddy at Rs 2,441 per quintal for this Kharif season. At the same time, farmers selling Grade-A paddy will get Rs 2,461 per quintal. Apart from this, farmers will be given additional Rs 20 per quintal for unloading, filtering and cleaning of paddy.
Money will come into account within 48 hours of selling paddy
Yogi government has also given strict instructions to the officials regarding the payment system. The Chief Minister has said that farmers should not have to wait long for payment after selling paddy. Under this, arrangements have been made to send the amount directly to the bank accounts of the farmers through DBT within 48 hours of purchase.
What is special for farmers?
The purpose of this entire system is to provide fair price to the farmers for their crops and to prevent delay in payment. If farmers wish, they can also sell paddy to private buyers instead of government centres, provided they are getting a price equal to or better than the MSP in the market.
