Patna: The central government has taken a big step towards strengthening the health infrastructure of Bihar. Under the Pradhan Mantri Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission (PM-ABHIM), 38 Critical Care Blocks will be established in 26 districts of the state. The objective of these modern medical units is to provide better treatment to serious patients at the district level itself, so that they do not have to go to hospitals in big cities.
While giving information in the Rajya Sabha, Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Prataprao Jadhav said that this project has been approved and necessary steps have also been taken to take the construction process forward.
38 critical care blocks will be built in 26 districts
After the approval of the Central Government, a total of 38 Critical Care Blocks are proposed to be established in Bihar. These will be constructed in 26 different districts based on the requirement of the state government and available land. The tender process of the project has been completed and work orders have also been issued to the concerned agencies. Now with the commencement of construction work, health services are expected to get new strength.
Better treatment for serious patients at the district level
With the creation of these critical care blocks, patients in case of heart attack, brain stroke, serious infection, accident and other emergency situations will be able to get state-of-the-art treatment facilities in their own district. Till now many patients had to be referred to Patna or other big cities for better treatment, which increased both time and expense. After the implementation of the new system, this problem can be reduced to a great extent.
Center will provide assistance, responsibility for operation rests with the state
The Central Government is providing necessary financial and technical support under this scheme, while the responsibility of construction, operation and maintenance of these hospitals will remain with the State Government. Along with this, the Central Government will also regularly review the progress of the projects, so that the work is completed within the stipulated time and people can get the benefit of modern health services as soon as possible.
