According to the rules till now, to activate the old account or withdraw money, the signature and approval of the previous employer was required. Employees often got tired of going back and forth to the old company. But now this dependence is going to end completely. On the new portal, employees will be able to access their old accounts on their own through their Aadhaar authentication and manage them without the help of any middleman or company.

This new feature is being implemented in a phased manner. In the initial phase, account holders who have their old Member ID exists, they will be able to find their account by entering it on the portal and activate it instantly. But EPFO’s plan goes further than this. In the coming time, the system will be updated so much that people who have forgotten their old member ID will also be able to find their account by giving some important information and take back control of it.

EPFO has now left its old style and has come into a completely hi-tech avatar. Figures for the financial year 2025-26 show that the department has 8.31 crore (83.1 million) Claims have been settled, which is a new record. Now updating bank details has become easier and old conditions like uploading copy of check have also been removed. The result is that now most of the claim money is reaching the employee’s bank account directly within just three days.
