Patna. The state government is going to take a new initiative to further strengthen the police administration in Bihar. Under this, preparations are being made to divide the 12 police ranges of the state into four zones. Three police ranges will be included in each zone. Patna, Muzaffarpur, Darbhanga and Bhagalpur have been selected for this. After the implementation of the new system, the monitoring and operation of police administration from these four cities will be improved.
Zonal system will return after seven years
The police zone system which was abolished about seven years ago is being restarted in Bihar. For this, the Home Department has started necessary preparations. In the proposed system, along with IG, DIG level officers will also be deployed in each zone. This is expected to help in creating coordination between different ranges and in faster implementation of administrative decisions.
20 new posts created in police department
To implement this change on the ground, the government has created 20 new posts in the police department. These include four DIG and four SP level posts. Apart from this, there are also preparations to open a new office of DIG in Begusarai. The responsibilities of police administration will be distributed in a better way through new officers and offices.
Rs 3.46 crore will be spent every year
To operate the new zonal system, the state government will have to spend approximately Rs 3 crore 46 lakh every year. This amount will be spent on new posts and operation of administrative offices.
The main objective of this initiative of the government is to make the police system more effective. With the formation of four zones, the functioning of 12 police ranges will be streamlined. Also, crime control, law and order monitoring and coordination between police officers is expected to be better.
