From August 1, the process of availing free bus service in Delhi is going to change completely. If women submit their new ‘Pink Saheli’ Smart Card If it is not made, then they will not be able to avail the benefit of this free bus service from 1st August. Delhi Government and Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) have now decided to make smart cards completely mandatory for this scheme.

According to an official statement, the pace of making this new card by women is very slow at present. DTC has started a special campaign in buses to make women aware and get the cards made as soon as possible. Under this, bus conductors and officials are advising women traveling to immediately apply for ‘Pink Saheli’ smart card.

Paper ticket closed from 1st August, card will have to be ‘taped’ as soon as you board the bus

Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) has clearly stated in its official order, “From August 1, the system of paper-based pink tickets available in buses will be completely stopped. Under the new rule, pink tickets will be issued only to those women passengers who have a valid ‘Pink Saheli’ smart card. It will be mandatory for women to tap this card on the electronic machine while starting the journey in the bus.”

According to Transport Department officials, to make Delhi’s transport system digital and hi-tech, the existing paper ticket system is being gradually phased out and completely replaced by a smart card-based transit system. Women who have this card will continue to avail the benefit of free travel as per the rules of the scheme as before.

If traveling without card, you will have to pay full fare from pocket

If any woman passenger travels in DTC or DoT (cluster) buses without ‘Pink Saheli’ smart card after August 1, she will not be given any free pink ticket. In such a situation, women passengers will have to buy ordinary tickets by paying the fare applicable according to the distance like a normal passenger.

To facilitate this system, Delhi Government has 50 authorized centers Have made. All eligible women can easily get their ‘Pink Saheli’ smart card by visiting these counters designated by the Transport Department and DTC.

Big target of distributing 13 lakh cards by the end of July

According to Delhi government data, so far around 11 lakh ‘Pink Saheli’ smart cards have been distributed across the city. The government has set a big target of taking this number to 13 lakh by the end of July. As soon as this target is achieved, this digital system will be fully implemented from the beginning of August. Women passengers of Delhi are advised to immediately renew or apply for a new card by visiting the nearest center to avoid last minute rush and hassle.
