Red alert in UP: Do not leave the house even by mistake for the next 72 hours, Meteorological Department warns

Monsoon has once again become completely aggressive in Uttar Pradesh. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a very serious warning for the state. According to the latest forecast of the department, there is a possibility of torrential rain in most parts of the state on July 10, 11 and 12. Considering the seriousness of the situation, red and orange alerts have been issued in many districts, while yellow alert has been implemented for the districts of central and western UP.

Most dangerous in these 20 districts

According to meteorologists, 20 districts of eastern Uttar Pradesh are in greatest danger. Heavy rainfall ranging from 115 mm to 204 mm is expected in these areas within the next two days. In these sensitive districts Varanasi, Gorakhpur, Prayagraj, Ghazipur, Jaunpur, Mirzapur, Mau, Azamgarh, Ballia, Chandauli, Deoria, Kushinagar, Basti, Maharajganj, Sultanpur, Bahraich, Shravasti, Balrampur, Siddharthnagar and Gonda. Are included. There is a possibility of rain continuing till July 12.

Yellow alert districts and lightning havoc

The impact of heavy rain will not be limited to eastern UP only. Noida, Ghazipur, Meerut, Bulandshahr, Saharanpur, Muzaffarnagar, Aligarh, Mathura, Lucknow, Kanpur Nagar, Kanpur Dehat, Barabanki, Ayodhya, Amethi, Bareilly, Pilibhit, Shahjahanpur, Jhansi and Lalitpur may receive 64 mm to 115 mm of rain. At the same time, there is a high risk of heavy rain as well as lightning in Agra, Firozabad, Mainpuri, Etawah, Auraiya, Jalaun, Hamirpur, Mahoba, Banda and Chitrakoot. The administration has strictly prohibited people from going into the fields and under the trees.

Next 72 hours: When and how will the weather change?

Monsoon will be fully active in the entire state on July 10, with cloudy sky and strong winds. There may be some relief in Western UP on July 11, but torrential rains will continue in Eastern Uttar Pradesh, due to which there is a danger of waterlogging in low-lying areas and disconnection of roads. There is a possibility of heavy rain in the lowland areas till July 12. Meteorologists say that this situation has arisen due to the moisture and low pressure area coming from the Bay of Bengal.

Administration alert, double challenge for farmers

Continuous rains may increase the water level of rivers like Ghaghra, Rapti and Gandak, increasing the risk of floods. The administration has instructed the relief and rescue teams to be fully prepared. On the other hand, this rain is good for the paddy crop, but waterlogging can also cause damage to the crops, hence agricultural experts have advised farmers to make arrangements to drain water from the fields.

Important tips for safety: What to do and what not to do?

The meteorological department and administration have issued advisories for travelers and the general public. Avoid unnecessary travel and avoid waterlogged roads. Do not stand in an open field or under a tree during thunderstorms. If you are outside, immediately take shelter in a permanent building. Keep checking weather updates continuously on your mobile and do not pay attention to any kind of rumour. The administration has also activated control rooms in the districts so that any emergency can be dealt with immediately.
