Lucknow. There is news of relief for the beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana in Uttar Pradesh. Yogi government has approved to continue the scheme of providing free LPG cylinder refill on the occasion of Holi and Diwali. With this decision of the Cabinet, eligible poor families will get the facility of cooking gas twice a year.
Free cylinder will be available in two phases
After the cabinet meeting, Minister Manoj Pandey said that the first free refill under the scheme will be given between October to December 2026 on the occasion of Diwali. The second refill will be made available on Holi between January and March 2027. The government has set a budget of Rs 2,142 crore for this scheme.
These beneficiaries will get benefits
Only eligible families associated with Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana will get the benefit of the scheme. For this, it is necessary for the beneficiary's bank account to be linked to Aadhaar and Aadhaar authentication should be completed. Therefore, beneficiaries should keep their bank account and Aadhaar related information correct.
Efforts to provide relief to women from smoke
Yogi government has been providing two free cylinder refills on Holi and Diwali to the beneficiaries of Ujjwala scheme in the last financial years also. Now it has been decided to continue this system in the current financial year also.
The aim of the government is to reduce the burden of LPG expenditure on poor families and promote the use of clean fuel. It can also help protect women and children from harm caused by smoke from wood or other traditional fuels.
