Big results emerged in America-Iran talks, know what is the 60 days ‘Peace Roadmap’
The results of the ‘Lake Lucerne Summit’ held in Bern, Switzerland have been revealed. Despite US President Donald Trump’s harsh threats and dramatic developments such as the Iranian delegation’s walkout from the talks, the US and Iran have finally laid the foundation for a historic peace deal. This high level talks mediated by Qatar and Pakistan has given a sigh of relief to the world. Trump’s strict warning and Iranian team’s walkout The atmosphere during the peace talks became extremely tense when President Donald Trump warned Iran through social media. Trump called for an end to the chaos being spread by Iran-backed groups in Lebanon and threatened that if Iran did not agree, the US would launch an attack more dangerous than previous attacks. The tension increased further when Trump allegedly made strong remarks about the Iranian negotiating team, in response to which the Iranian team left the talks venue. However, diplomats from Qatar and Pakistan took over the talks behind the scenes and successfully concluded it by the early hours of Monday. Key points of the peace agreement: What issues were agreed upon? Through this dialogue, a detailed roadmap for the future has been prepared between the two countries: 60 days deadline: Both the countries have set a clear deadline to reach a final agreement within the next 60 days. Technical negotiations for this will be started immediately. Peace in the Strait of Hormuz: To avoid military confrontation in the Strait of Hormuz, both countries have agreed to establish a ‘direct communication line’ to ensure safe movement of commercial ships. Formation of Special Cell: A special cell will be formed between America, Iran and Lebanon, whose sole task will be to end military operations in Lebanon and strictly enforce the ceasefire. Monitoring Committee: A high-level political committee has been formed to implement the agreement and monitor matters related to the nuclear program and sanctions. Relaxation in sanctions and big relief to Iran: Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi has called this agreement a big diplomatic victory. The agreement lifts sanctions on Iran’s oil and petrochemical exports, eases the blockade and paves the way for the release of some of Iran’s seized assets. Along with this, a major reconstruction and development plan for Iran has also been announced, which is expected to improve the economic condition of the country. Is this peace permanent? Although both sides have agreed to a ceasefire and easing of sanctions, the Trump administration’s tough stance still remains. The ‘Lake Lucerne’ summit has opened a window, but its real test will be in future technical talks on maintaining peace in Lebanon and nuclear programs. The role of Qatar and Pakistan is decisive in this entire peace mission.
