Tezzbuzz Desk- The BRICS summit being chaired by India has been a major diplomatic success. A joint declaration has been agreed upon among the BRICS countries. The New Delhi manifesto will be released at 4 pm on Saturday. The manifesto will condemn all forms of aggression without naming any country. Amidst the ongoing tension in West Asia, dialogue and diplomacy will be shown as the only way to resolve disputes.
India's diplomatic victory
Getting all the member countries to agree on a common language is being considered a big achievement for India and BRICS Sherpas. Before the summit, Sherpas had been in continuous talks for several days to reach a consensus on the joint declaration. There were differences of language and stance among the member countries regarding the situation in West Asia.
Earlier, during the BRICS Foreign Ministers meeting held in New Delhi in May, differences regarding war between Iran and UAE had come to the fore. Due to this, the joint manifesto could not be issued. In such a situation, reaching consensus this time reflects India's diplomatic influence and strategic efforts.
Modi-Xi Jinping will have a bilateral meeting
Leaders of BRICS member countries including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin will participate in the conference at the Bharat Mandapam. Xi Jinping has reached Delhi on Saturday. This is his first visit to India in seven years.
Prime Minister Modi will also hold bilateral talks with Xi Jinping during the conference. Earlier on Friday, PM Modi had met Russian President Vladimir Putin and Iranian President Masoud Pejeshkian. The situation in West Asia and India-Iran relations were discussed between Modi and Pejeshkian.
