Big update for electricity consumers in UP, know everything!

Lucknow. Important information regarding electricity bill for smart meter consumers of Uttar Pradesh has come to light. Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation has expedited the process of issuing postpaid electricity bills for the month of June to consumers connected to smart meters. A large number of consumers have now started receiving bills.

Bills have been provided to most of the total smart meter consumers in the state through the automated system. At the same time, some consumers have been delayed in getting their bills due to technical reasons, for which separate arrangements are being made.

Bills issued to more than 85 lakh consumers

According to Power Corporation, out of about 89.67 lakh smart meter consumers, electricity bills for the month of June have been issued for about 85.6 lakh consumers. At the same time, about 45 thousand smart meter consumers taking new connections will get their first bill in the month of July. Officials say that through the smart meter system, the process of bill preparation is being made easier and faster, so that consumers can get the bills on time.

Consumers with technical problems will also get bill

Some consumers have not been able to receive bills through the automated system due to communication and technical issues. Bills will be generated for about 3.62 lakh such smart meter consumers through hand held units. There are preparations to provide electricity bills to these consumers by June 18, so that there is no problem in payment.

No extra charges will be levied on payment till 29th June

It is a matter of relief for smart meter consumers that there will be no late surcharge on paying electricity bills by June 29. Consumers who pay on time will be able to avoid additional charges. The Electricity Department is continuously working to strengthen the smart meter system, so that the billing process can be made more transparent and convenient.

Bills sent through SMS

The electricity department has also sent bill information to a large number of consumers through SMS on their mobile phones. About 63 lakh smart meter consumers have received bill related messages. Consumers have been advised to check and pay their bills on time, so that any kind of problem can be avoided.
