New Delhi. The new rule is going to be implemented for domestic LPG customers across the country from October 1, 2026. To book LPG refill at fixed price with government subsidy, it will be necessary to complete Biometric Aadhaar Authentication (BAA). The government says that this will help in extending the benefits of subsidy to genuine and eligible consumers.
Relief to customers who have already got certified
LPG consumers who have already completed their biometric Aadhaar authentication will not have to undergo the process again. Such customers will be able to book the cylinder in the normal way. As of September 19, 27.43 crore active domestic LPG consumers in the country, i.e. about 89.9 percent, had completed BAA.
Work can be completed even sitting at home
Customers whose authentication is pending can complete it through the delivery staff during cylinder delivery, at the LPG distributor's showroom or through the mobile app of the respective company. IndianOil ONE can be used for Indane, HelloBPCL for Bharat Gas and HP PAY for HP Gas.
What will happen if BAA is not done?
According to government information, consumers who do not fulfill the BAA will not be completely stopped from getting LPG. They will be able to get LPG at market price without subsidy by registering their option on the digital medium of their oil company. Arrangements for 5 or 10 kg cylinders have also been made as per local availability.
The government said that in September 2026, the indirect subsidy on 14.2 kg domestic cylinder was around Rs 210 per cylinder. Therefore, customers who want refill with subsidy are required to complete BAA before October 1. For assistance, LPG helpline can be contacted at 1800-2333-555.
