Big update in Raja Raghuvanshi case… Mistake of documents became the reason for Sonam’s bail, ‘wrong section’ changed the whole game
A shocking twist has come to light in the famous honeymoon murder case of Meghalaya. Sonam Raghuvanshi, facing charges of murder of her husband Raja Raghuvanshi, has finally got bail. The special thing is that before this his bail petition had been rejected thrice. This time the court’s decision came as a surprise to many people, because this relief is said to have been given due to an alleged legal or clerical mistake.
The most important aspect in this entire case was that serious errors were found in the documents related to the arrest. A case was registered under Section 103 of the Indian Justice Code, 2023 for a serious crime like murder. But when Sonam was told the reasons for her arrest, Section 403(1) was mentioned in it, which does not exist in this law. The court took this seriously and said that any accused should be clearly told for which crime he has been arrested. When the correct section is not mentioned in the documents themselves, it will be considered a violation of the rights of the accused.
Court raised questions on investigation process
The East Khasi Hills District Court examined several documents related to the investigation. These included arrest memos, case diaries, and other records. The court found that nowhere in all these documents was the exact section related to murder clearly mentioned. The court also said that such a big mistake cannot be ignored just by calling it ‘typing mistake’. If the same mistake is repeated in every document, it raises questions on the investigation process. Apart from this, marks were not made at necessary places in the form prepared, due to which it was not clear what charges have been leveled against the accused.
Lack of legal aid also became an issue
The court also noted that when Sonam was produced in the court for the first time, no lawyer was present with her. This was an important point, because at that time objections could be raised to such legal errors. The court refused to believe this on the grounds that the accused had given up his rights. Thus, lack of legal representation also became an important factor in the bail decision.
Strict conditions attached with bail
Although Sonam has got bail, four strict conditions have also been imposed along with it. The court explained that:
- She will not abscond and will not influence any evidence or witness.
- It will be mandatory to be present in the court on every hearing date.
- Will not go out of the jurisdiction of the court without permission.
- He will have to give a personal bond of Rs 50,000 and two sureties of the same amount.
With these conditions the court has tried to ensure that the investigation and judicial process is not affected.
What is the whole honeymoon murder case?
This case is of 2025, when Indore businessman Raja Raghuvanshi married Sonam on May 11. A few days after the marriage, on May 20, both of them reached Meghalaya for honeymoon. But soon the news of both of them going missing came to light, after which a large-scale search operation was started. Raja’s body was recovered on June 2 after an operation conducted with the help of several agencies and local people. This incident shook the entire country.
Conspiracy exposed
During investigation it came to light that Sonam had conspired with her alleged lover Raj Kushwaha to commit this murder. As per the plan, the decision was taken to eliminate Raja during his honeymoon. It was told that three mercenaries attacked the king near Wei Sawdong Waterfall. After being attacked with sharp weapons, the body was thrown into a ditch and an attempt was made to show it as an accident.
A few days after the murder, on June 9, Sonam reached a dhaba in Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh, from where she was taken into custody. After this, Raj Kushwaha and three other accused were also arrested. At present all the co-accused are in judicial custody and the hearing of the case is going on.
