Big update regarding 4 new expressways in Bihar, read full details
Patna. Many big expressway projects are underway to improve road connectivity in Bihar. After the completion of these projects, travel time between different parts of the state will be reduced and trade, industry and investment are also expected to get a new impetus. However, at present many projects are going through processes like administrative approvals, DPR and alignment, due to which the construction work has not been able to pick up full speed.
Let us know the current status of four major expressway projects.
Awaiting approval on Patna-Purnia Expressway
Patna-Purnia Expressway is being considered among the most important road projects of Bihar. The proposal for this access control expressway has been sent for approval at the central level, but the final approval is still awaited. The preliminary alignment of the project has already been decided, while the Detailed Project Report (DPR) is being prepared. After getting the central approval, the further process related to land acquisition and construction is expected to speed up.
Route of Buxar-Bhagalpur Expressway will be decided
Buxar-Bhagalpur Expressway has been approved in principle, but its final route is yet to be decided. For this, an alignment committee will be formed by the National Highway Authority (NHAI). Once the route is decided, necessary approval will be taken from the state government. Only after this the DPR and other construction related processes will be taken forward.
There will be change in the route of Raxaul-Haldia Expressway
Preparations are being made to change the proposed route of Raxaul-Haldia Expressway. It is being told that keeping the Raxaul Airport project in mind, its alignment will be amended. The next phase of the project will proceed only after the necessary changes in the route are completed.
Land acquisition continues on Gorakhpur-Siliguri Expressway
A large part of the Gorakhpur-Siliguri Expressway will pass through Bihar. The process of land acquisition for this ambitious project has started in many districts. However, several technical and administrative approvals are still required before the project can gain full momentum. The construction work is likely to gain momentum after all the formalities are completed.
