Lucknow. The consolidation process has gained momentum in Uttar Pradesh to streamline land-related matters and resolve land disputes of farmers. According to the data of the Consolidation Directorate, while in the year 2017, consolidation work was completed in 1,925 villages of the state, by 2025 this figure will increase to 3,192 villages. After completion of the process in these villages, the land related records have been handed back to the tehsils.
Settlement of more than 21 lakh land disputes
Emphasis has also been laid on resolving cases related to consolidation in the state. According to departmental data, a total of 21,12,784 cases had been disposed of by the year 2025. Long lasting land disputes cause problems to the farmers, hence settlement of the cases can provide relief to the concerned parties.
531 Consolidation Court Computerized
To modernize the consolidation system, courts have also been connected with technology. According to the Directorate, a total of 531 Consolidation Courts were computerized by the year 2025. This can help in streamlining the functioning of the courts and handling records.
1,302 new villages included in the consolidation process
Information about the inclusion of 1,302 villages as part of the expansion of the consolidation process in the last eight years has also come to light. The aim of this initiative is to improve the land system and pursue revenue matters related to farmers in a more systematic manner.
What does this mean for landowners?
Completion of consolidation means that the process of reorganization of land in the concerned village has been completed and the records have been handed over to the tehsil. However, this does not automatically end every land dispute. Land owners should check the status of their Khasra, Khatauni and other revenue records from the concerned tehsil.
