Bigg Boss 20 has barely begun, but viewers on X have already started picking favourites, questioning the casting and even demanding wild-card entries.
The Salman Khan-hosted reality show premiered on Sunday with 15 contestants, bringing together actors, singers, social-media creators, a gamer, a sportsperson and reality TV personalities.
The diverse line-up has divided the audience. While contestants including Mary Kom, Kanika Mann, Yung DSA, ScoutOP, Gullu and Uditi Singh received early support, some viewers admitted they were unfamiliar with several of the names.
Mary Kom gets mixed reactions
Olympic medallist and six-time world champion boxer Mary Kom emerged as one of the most talked-about contestants.
One viewer celebrated her entry, praising the “6-time world champion aura” she brought to the show and describing her participation as an exciting way to begin the season.
However, another X user reacted very differently, asking why Mary Kom had chosen to enter the reality show.
The contrasting reactions highlighted the curiosity surrounding the sportsperson’s decision to participate in Bigg Boss 20.
Fresh faces win some fans
Several viewers welcomed the show’s decision to introduce relatively fresh faces rather than rely entirely on established reality-TV personalities.
One fan argued that contestants who are less famous could bring a different dynamic to the house because they may be less concerned about maintaining an existing public image.
Yung DSA, Gullu, Scout and Uditi were among the contestants named as early favourites by one viewer after the first episode.
Kanika Mann also found support from viewers familiar with her earlier television and reality-show appearances. One fan who said they had followed her since Khatron Ke Khiladi 12 described her as a “very strong contestant”.

Not everyone was convinced by the new line-up.
Some X users criticised the casting and said they did not recognise several contestants. Questions such as “Scout? Gullu??” and who some of the newer faces were became part of the online conversation.
Another viewer bluntly said the contestant list had left them disappointed.
The reactions suggest that the show’s decision to bring in a mix of established names and emerging creators has created curiosity—but not universal excitement.

Interestingly, some viewers were already asking for wild-card contestants after just the premiere.
One user argued that with reality shows now competing for viewers throughout the year, Bigg Boss would need to introduce twists and new faces to keep audiences engaged.

Who could win Bigg Boss 20?
While it is far too early to predict the winner, some viewers have already started backing their favourites.
Kushal Tanwar, aka Gullu, received an early vote of confidence from one X user, who praised his ability in tasks as well as entertainment and predicted that he could continue his reality-show winning streak.
With 15 contestants now inside the house, the coming episodes will determine whether the initial social-media favourites can maintain their momentum.
