Mahindra has given the biggest update ever to its 3-door Thar OG. Interestingly, some of the comparable variants have been priced almost the same despite changes to the new platform, suspension, steering, engine and off-road features. The entry-level 1.5-litre diesel AXT is priced at ₹10.32 lakh, while the LXT 1.5 diesel is priced at ₹12.99 lakh. These prices are valid for delivery till 30 November 2026.
The Thar OG now gets electric power steering instead of hydraulic, push-button start, 18-inch steel wheels and soft armrests in the second row. The rear AC vents, dual airbags, ESP, rollover mitigation and height-adjustable driver’s seat from the previous model are also retained. Hence, the difference in steering and cabin comfort can be felt in daily use.

A major change has been made in the platform of the car. The Thar OG is now based on the M_Glyde 4G platform. It features a rear Pentalink suspension and Watts Link for increased structural stiffness. NVH damping has also been improved and the ZXT variant gets Frequency Dependent Damping. These changes are aimed at improving ride quality, steering and cornering stability.
The 4-wheel-drive version of the LXT gets an Electronic Locking Differential as well as Mud, Sand and Snow terrain modes. Some RWD variants are offered with Terrain Assist. It also gets Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and cruise control along with a color MID and a 10.25-inch touchscreen.

The engine also gets more power. The 2.2-litre mHawk now makes around 150 hp and 330 Nm, while the 2.0-litre mStallion makes around 160 hp and 330 Nm. The 1.5-litre diesel produces 117 hp and 300 Nm. The top ZXT gets 6 airbags, front-rear disc brakes, wireless charging, 19-inch alloy wheels, LED lamps and front parking sensors. Deliveries to customers will begin from October 11.
