Bihar News: A very painful and shocking news has come out from Bagaha in Bihar, blowing away the claims of the health department and the local administration. Even at a time when tall claims are being made about development and better facilities in the country, people in rural areas are forced to lose their lives due to lack of basic facilities. The news is from Singadhwa village located in Gobarhiya police station area of Bagaha, where a pregnant woman died on the way before reaching the hospital.
The deceased has been identified as twenty-seven year old Suman Devi. Suman Devi suddenly started labor pain on Sunday. Since there was no better hospital or ambulance facility in the village, the family members hurriedly loaded him on a tractor and prepared to take him to the primary health center at Harnatand. The distance from the village to the hospital is about twenty one kilometers, but this journey was no less than a big challenge.
Tractor stuck in swollen river and breathing stopped
Due to the rainy season, the water level in the Harha river of the area had increased significantly. The family waited for a long time for the water to recede. When the water receded a little, the tractor was lowered into the water to cross the river. But due to mud and bad road on the way, the tractor got badly stuck in the middle of the river.
On one side, efforts were being made to pull out the tractor, while on the other side, Suman Devi, lying in the tractor trolley, was suffering from labor pain. Time was passing and due to lack of treatment, the woman's condition was worsening by the minute. After being stranded in the middle of the river for a long time, Suman Devi finally died on the way. If she had received medical help in time, perhaps her life and that of her newborn could have been saved.
Villagers are facing problems due to lack of bridge and road
These two areas of Bagaha have always been victims of administrative neglect. Till date, a bridge has not been constructed on the Harha River, due to which dozens of villages are completely cut off from the main road during the rainy season. Even on normal days, if someone falls ill, taking him to the hospital is no less than winning a battle.
The villagers say that every year during the monsoon this river comes as a curse for them. The absence of a bridge on the Harha River and lack of a paved road is now costing people's lives. The local villagers several times demanded the administration and public representatives to build a bridge, but every time only assurances were received.
Rural areas are far away from health facilities
If seen from a geographical point of view, the distance from Singadhwa Don to Harnatand is about twenty one kilometers. The block headquarters Ramnagar is about thirty-five kilometers away. In case of emergency, Harnatand is the nearest health centre, but due to the bad condition of the road, it becomes impossible to reach there on time.
Suman Devi was married to Sanjit Oraon, a resident of Dolbajwa village. She was living in her maternal home in Singhadhwa for some time. This was Suman's second child and she already had a younger child. After this tragic incident, a mountain of sorrow has fallen on the family. The shadow of the mother has gone from the head of the innocent child forever. This incident has once again proved that apart from the paper claims, the ground reality is still very scary and bad.
