25 big decisions of Samrat government in Bihar: New airports will be built in Rajgir and Rohtas, tax increased on vehicles

Bihar News: Bihar government has taken a very important step for the development and strengthening the infrastructure of the state. A total of 25 major proposals have been agreed upon in the Bihar Cabinet meeting held on Wednesday under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary. These decisions are going to have a direct impact on the state’s panchayat system, revenue collection and air connectivity. The main objective of the government is to make local self-governance self-reliant and to give a new identity to the state’s tourism at the international level. These far-reaching decisions will see major changes in the economic and administrative structure of Bihar.

Magnificent airports will be built in Rajgir and Rohtas

The biggest and attractive decision of this cabinet meeting is to promote tourism and air connectivity of the state. The government has given green signal to the proposal to construct two new greenfield airports in Rajgir and Rohtas-Kaimur region. For this, a mutual memorandum of understanding has been approved between the Airports Authority of India and the Government of Bihar. After this agreement, study of technical and geographical possibilities of construction of airports at both the places will be started. Construction of an airport at a historical and religious tourist destination like Rajgir will lead to a huge increase in the number of foreign tourists, while new avenues of development will open in the hilly areas of Rohtas and Kaimur.

Panchayats got new form and rights

To improve local administration, the government has approved new delimitation of Gram Panchayat, Panchayat Samiti and Zilla Parishad areas under the Bihar Panchayat Raj Act, 2006. This entire delimitation will be done considering the population figures of the year 2011 as the basis. The government believes that with this step all areas will be able to get correct and balanced representation according to their population. With this, administrative work will speed up and making plans for the development of villages will become very easy. This process will be completed keeping in mind geographical and social unity.

Income of villages will increase, they will collect taxes themselves

To make the Panchayats of Bihar economically strong and self-reliant, the Cabinet has approved the draft of Gram Panchayat Tax, Rates and Fees Rules, 2026. After the implementation of this new system, now Gram Panchayats will get the power to collect holding tax in their jurisdiction. Apart from this, fees can also be charged from professions, trades and industries running in villages as per the prescribed rules. Panchayats will also be able to charge fees from the common people in return for the services they provide. However, the government will set a maximum limit for these taxes so that the general public is not burdened. This will reduce the dependence of Panchayats on government grants.

Traveling by car will be a bit expensive

The state government has decided to make important amendments in the Bihar Motor Vehicles Taxation Act, 1994 to increase its revenue. Under this decision, the lump sum motor vehicle tax paid on the purchase of two-wheelers has now been increased by one percent. Along with this, an additional tax of Rs 1,000 will also be imposed on three-wheelers. A decision has been taken to increase the trade tax on commercial vehicles by up to four times. The government’s argument is that there was no change in these tax rates for a long time, hence it became very important to take this step to increase the revenue.
