Bihar’s Lal’s sting in the world! Ishaan captures number 1, 15 year old Vaibhav Suryavanshi creates history
Often in our own country, Bihar and its people have been seen from a different perspective. Many times they were underestimated, and sometimes they had to fall victim to the stereotypical thinking of being illiterate, uncultured and labourer. But, the truth is far from this. From historical point of view, Bihar has always been prosperous and even today, its people are hoisting their flag in every field, from education, administrative services to sports fields. The latest and most brilliant example of this in the world of cricket is presented by two promising sons of Bihar – Ishan Kishan and Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who are continuously making their state proud at the international level.
15 year old Vaibhav made a historic jump of 230 places
Just 15 years old Vaibhav Suryavanshi has done such a feat in the recent ICC Men’s T20I Batting Rankings, which is echoing all over the world today. The young sensation played a key role in India’s recent 3-0 series win against Zimbabwe in Harare. Vaibhav scored 151 runs at an excellent average of 50.33 and won his first ‘Player of the Series’ title. The result of this brilliant performance is that Vaibhav has made a huge jump of 230 places in the ICC weekly rankings updated on Wednesday. He has directly reached 48th position, which is the best rating of his career so far.
Ishaan Kishan shines, captures the number 1 chair
The bat of another strong batsman from Bihar, Ishan Kishan, is also on fire. After the second match of the series against Zimbabwe, Ishaan has also achieved the best rating of his career. This explosive left-handed batsman played a stormy innings of 81 runs and reached 916 runs. This is the third highest batting rating in cricket history. By the end of the series, Ishaan’s rating was 910 points, still he is far ahead of second placed Sahibzada Farhan (848) and is proudly sitting on the number-1 chair.
Abhishek Sharma got a shock
While these two players from Bihar have made a splash in the rankings, the T20 series against Zimbabwe was nothing special for Indian opener Abhishek Sharma. He was seen struggling with the bat and could score only 11 runs in three matches. This disappointing performance has had a direct impact on his ranking and he has slipped one place to third place.
