Bihar Flood Alert : The flood situation in Bihar remains serious. About 43 lakh people have been affected in 14 districts including Patna, Munger and Bhagalpur. Many rivers are in spate after heavy rains for the last five days. Due to the rise in the water level of Ganga, Kosi and Gandak, many areas have been flooded. More than 5 thousand schools have been closed due to floods.
More than 500 cremation grounds submerged
Due to rising water in the rivers, more than 500 cremation grounds built on their banks have also been submerged. Due to this, people are facing difficulty in performing last rites in the affected areas. According to the Disaster Management Department, 514 gram panchayats of 84 blocks of 14 districts are affected by floods. Many rivers are flowing above the danger mark.
Flood in 26 districts of UP, 4 lakh affected
In Uttar Pradesh too, rivers are in spate due to continuous rains. About 4 lakh people in 26 districts of the state are said to be affected by the floods. Due to the increased water level of Ramganga river in Bareilly, an ancient temple got submerged in the river. The water of Saryu river reached many areas in Barabanki. Information about sinking of about 12 houses has come to light here.
Red alert in Odisha, yellow alert in many states
The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for Odisha. There is a yellow alert in many states including Uttarakhand, Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Ganga coastal region of West Bengal, Assam, Nagaland, Meghalaya, Mizoram and Tripura. Weather warnings have also been issued in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Rayalaseema, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.
Heavy rain forecast in Gujarat from September 12
The Meteorological Department in Gujarat has predicted heavy rains from September 12. Yellow alert has been issued for South Gujarat including Vadodara. There is an alert of heavy rain in Navsari, Valsad and Dangs from September 13. Farmers are expected to get relief from the possibility of rain after a long break.
Rain alert in many districts of Uttarakhand
There is a possibility of heavy rain at some places in Dehradun, Tehri, Nainital, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh of Uttarakhand today. Light to moderate rain may occur in Haridwar, Pauri and Uttarkashi. There is also a possibility of thunderstorms and lightning at many places. Light to moderate rain is expected in other parts of the state also.
Currently there is a break due to heavy rain in Madhya Pradesh
There is currently no active weather system in Madhya Pradesh. Due to this, the period of heavy rains has stopped. There was strong sunshine in most parts of the state on Wednesday. The weather is expected to remain similar on Thursday also. There may be light rain at some places, but at present no alert of heavy rain has been issued.
