Bihar government will give 15 acres of land to Isha Foundation and 10 acres of land to TTD for just Re 1.
Bihar government and Isha Foundation have suddenly come into limelight. The first crematorium of Isha Foundation has also opened at Bansghat in Patna. Meanwhile, another news has come that the Bihar government has decided to give 15.01 acres of land to Jaggi Vasudev alias Sadhguru’s Isha Foundation. This land has been given on a 99 year lease for just Re 1. Similarly, it has been decided to give 10.11 acres of land to Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD). In the cabinet meeting held on Wednesday, decisions related to creation of 5 private universities, greenfield satellite township and partnership with many tech companies were also taken.
It is discussed that this land to be given to Isha Foundation will be given near the famous temple of Teldiha. In January 2025, the Bihar government had acquired 15.44 acres of land on the initiative of the then Deputy CM, Samrat Chaudhary. Then an amount of Rs 5.28 crore was sanctioned for this, in which the first installment of Rs 2.64 crore was released. It was then said that Teldiha temple would be developed as a religious tourist destination. In August 2025, the Bihar government had announced to build a huge statue of Lord Shiva in Teldiha and a plan was made to spend Rs 29.88 crore for it.

In February 2026, there were reports that Isha Foundation wants to set up a big yoga center for which it is looking for 120 acres of land. In this regard, Isha Foundation had contacted the Bihar government and the then Secretary of the State Tourism Department, Nilesh Ramchandra Devre, had asked all the District Magistrates to submit reports regarding the availability of 100 acres of land if they have it. Now there is discussion that a yoga center will be built on this land available in Teldiha.
Isha Foundation got land
According to the press release issued by the government, the decision to give land to these institutions is related to tourism. In this, 15.01 acres of land will be given to Isha Foundation in Tarapur, Munger on a lease of just Re 1 for 99 years. Let us tell you that Tarapur is the area of Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary and he is the MLA of Tarapur. The purpose behind giving so much land to Isha Foundation is that this organization will develop cultural, religious and tourist places.

Similarly, Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), which looks after the management of other temples like Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple located in Andhra Pradesh, has been given 10.11 acres of land in Mokama. This land has also been given on lease for 99 years and only Re 1 will be taken in return. Bihar government has also announced to give land to Namgyal Tantric College of the monastery associated with Dalai Lama. This land has been given for 50 years on the basis of certain conditions.
Isha Foundation will also run the crematorium
Earlier, Isha Foundation was also given approval to run a modern crematorium in Bihar. When Nitish Kumar was the Chief Minister, a decision was taken in the cabinet meeting held on 9 September 2025, under which land was to be made available to Isha Foundation to build modern crematoriums in Patna, Gaya, Chapra, Saharsa, Bhagalpur and Begusarai. For this also only Re 1 was to be charged and the lease period was kept at 33 years. In this sequence, the first modern crematorium has now been ready at Bansghat in Patna.

Other decisions of the cabinet
- New court complexes will be built in Siwan, Motihari, Begusarai and Rajauli at a cost of Rs 164 crore.
- Similarly, approval has also been given to establish five private universities.
- Approval of Rs 30.60 crore for the traditional agricultural development scheme run with the help of the Central Government.
- Rs 24.67 crore to continue the second phase of Lohia Swachh Bihar Abhiyan till 2026-27
- The Cabinet has also approved Bihar State Teacher Transfer Rules, 2026
