Bihar government’s decision, major changes in police system implemented

Patna. Making a major change in the police administration, the Bihar government has decided to abolish the separate cadre of Surveillance Investigation Bureau. Now the officers working in this department will be considered directly under Bihar Police Service. The government says that this step has been taken with the aim of making the police system more organized and uniform.

As per the government order, DSP, Inspector and Sub-Inspector level officers posted in the Surveillance Department will be adjusted in the same posts of Bihar Police. This means that now the service of these officers will not be considered in a separate cadre, rather they will be a part of the general Bihar Police structure.

There will be no impact on the service of officers

The state government has made it clear that this change will not affect the job, seniority, promotion or experience of any officer. The service period till now will be considered completely valid. The government has also said that the officers will be adjusted in the police service only on the basis of their original appointment date, so that there is no dispute of any kind in future.

Why was this decision taken?

According to the report, there were problems in administrative coordination due to different police cadres for a long time. Complications were increasing at many levels regarding transfer, posting and cadre management. In view of this, the government decided to abolish the separate structure of the monitoring department. The government believes that by creating a unified police system, administrative control will be strengthened and the process of deployment of officers will become easier.

Anti-corruption action will continue

The government has also clarified that the role of the monitoring department will remain as before. There will be no impact on the process of action, trap and investigation in cases of bribery and corruption. Recently, the monitoring department had taken action against many officers and employees. In such a situation, the government has tried to give the message that the power of the department is not being reduced, but only changes are being made in the administrative structure.

Big impact can be seen in police system

This decision can bring better coordination and administrative simplicity within Bihar Police. With the abolition of separate cadre, the service management and control process can become more systematic in future. Now it remains to be seen how effectively the government is able to implement this new system on the ground and what effect it has on the working style of the police administration.
