Bihar Politics: Pawan Singh becomes MLC, all 10 candidates including Nishant Kumar elected unopposed

Patna. The results of the biennial elections of Bihar Legislative Council and by-election on one seat have been declared. All nine candidates from NDA and one candidate from Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), including famous Bhojpuri cinema singer and actor Pawan Singh, won unopposed.

All were declared winners after the withdrawal period ended on Thursday. Nine candidates were fielded for the biennial elections on 9 assembly quota seats of the Legislative Council and by-election was also held on one seat vacated by former Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, for which one candidate had filed the nomination.

On Monday, 10 candidates had filed nominations for a total of 10 seats. Of these, one candidate from NDA and one from opposition RJD filed nomination on nine seats. However, the biggest discussion is about not giving even a single seat to the Rashtriya Lok Morcha included in the NDA.

Danger of losing ministerial post looms over Deepak Prakash

Deepak Prakash of Rashtriya Lok Morcha is currently a minister, but he is not a member of any house. In such a situation, his ministerial post is also under threat. According to the rules, membership of any House has to be taken after six months of taking oath.

Names of newly elected members

The newly elected MLCs include Nishant Kumar, Bharti Mehta, Shivani Devi Prajapati and Lalan Prasad from JDU, while Bhojpuri stars Pawan Singh, Sanjay Prakash, Mayukh, Anil Thakur and Sheela Pandit from BJP were declared victorious. Ashraf Ansari of LJP (Ram Vilas) and Sunil Singh of RJD have also won the MLC elections.

Let us tell you that after RJD’s decision to send Sunil Singh to the Legislative Council again, the voices of protest have increased in the party itself. Party’s national president Lalu Yadav’s son Tej Pratap Yadav and daughter Rohini Acharya have also raised questions on this decision. Former minister Shivchandra Ram resigned from key party posts, although the party has not accepted his resignation.
