Bihar: Prashant Kishore angry over Bhojpur encounter, ‘Police will not punish the criminal, police will raise serious questions’
Patna. Jansuraj Party leader Prashant Kishore on Thursday said on the encounter of young Bharat Tiwari of Biloti village of Shahpur police station area in Bhojpur district that the court has the right to decide on the crime of a person and to punish him and the police cannot kill anyone unjustly.
Prashant Kishore, during an enlightening dialogue program in Bankipur Assembly today, said that even though Tiwari is written in front of the name of the deceased youth, he was fighting to improve the plight of 80 displaced families of Bind community. He said that he wanted to provide roads, electricity and water to these poor families, for which he had an altercation with the officials. He said that while fighting for the poor, he had come into the eyes of the administration and the police.
The source of Jansuraj said that the Chief Minister of the state, Samrat Chaudhary talks about eradicating crime and corruption and for this he has been talking about giving free hand to the police and shooting, but this does not mean that the police should become completely autocratic and kill people as per their likes and dislikes.
He said that the police station does not have the right to decide who is a criminal or not and no one can be shot merely on the basis of suspicion or like-dislike. He said that there is a constitutional process in our country to control crime and punish criminals, there is a judicial system, under which judges take decisions. He said that the police has no right to kill anyone at will.
Prashant Kishore said that in a democracy, the public has the right to choose the system of their choice through ballot or EVM and this matter is not just about the murder of one Bharat Tiwari, to correct this, the public will have to come forward and elect a government which works in the interest of the public.
It is noteworthy that Kishore had gone to Biloti village on Tuesday to meet the victim’s family of Bharat Tiwari and after returning from there, he was talking on this topic in a program organized in Patna.
