Bihar News: There was a lot of chaos in the urban village of Ranga police station area located in Patna, the capital of Bihar, on Saturday, when the villagers caught a group that had come to beg, considering it to be a child lifter. Within no time, a huge crowd gathered at the spot and people took the law into their own hands and thrashed those caught. Amidst this commotion, some alert villagers intervened and took control of the situation and informed the police by keeping the accused safe in a temple complex. The police reached the spot and took all the suspects under their protection and brought them to the police station for questioning.
Anger sparked by minor driver's claim
The incident started when some people in sadhu and religious attire were roaming in the area begging from the people. Meanwhile, a thirteen year old Toto driver living in an urban village made a sensational claim. The driver said that some members of this group were traveling on his toto. As soon as they came to a deserted turn in the road, they tried to forcibly catch him and drag him. The child somehow escaped from their clutches and on the way narrated the entire ordeal to his uncle.
Rumors spread rapidly in the village and fighting broke out
The family members and the villagers were shocked to hear the words of the child. The driver's uncle immediately ran towards the spot along with some villagers and surrounded them and caught the people begging and brought them to the village square. As soon as the news spread that the child thief had been caught, hundreds of people from the entire village gathered with sticks. The agitated mob did not listen to anyone and pounced on the arrested people. Some people beat him severely, due to which there was an outcry on the spot.
Saved his life by locking himself in the temple, called the police
Seeing the deteriorating situation, some wise and elderly people of the village came forward. He calmed down the raging crowd and to avoid any major untoward incident, he locked all the arrested people in a room in a temple in the village. Meanwhile, about eight to ten women belonging to the group of arrested people also reached there crying. Seeing the situation becoming tense, the villagers immediately informed the Ranga police station about the entire incident. As soon as the information was received, the police force reached the spot and took all four people out safely and made them sit in the car.
Two accomplices were also caught in the nearby village.
While the commotion was going on in the urban village, similar news came from nearby Khokhratola. There too the villagers saw two other members of the same group begging. The news of child theft had already spread, so the people there surrounded them and caught them. The villagers of Khokhratola also showed wisdom and directly informed the police instead of taking the law into their own hands. After this, the police team reached there and took both of them into their custody.
All the people are residents of Saharsa
The people caught during the initial interrogation by the villagers and the police have revealed their identities. He told that all of them are residents of Bakhtiyarpur area of Saharsa district of Bihar state. He said that in order to earn their living, they roam around in different villages in religious garb and earn their living by begging. He termed all the allegations of child theft or forcibly capturing a child as completely false and fabricated.
Police is conducting a thorough investigation
Police officials say that there has been no official confirmation of child theft or attempt to kidnap a child yet. All the arrested people are being strictly interrogated to know the truth of the allegations made by the villagers. Along with this, the statements of the Toto driver and his family members are also being recorded. The police have appealed to the villagers not to pay heed to any kind of rumor and if they see anything suspicious, they should immediately inform the administration instead of resorting to violence. Till the time of writing the news, the work of giving written complaint in the case and completing the legal process was going on.
