Bihar News: In the presence of Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary, a major agreement was signed on Tuesday in ‘Sankalp’ auditorium located at Lok Sevak Awas regarding the operation of Hotel Ajatshatru located in Rajgir of Bihar State Tourism Development Corporation Limited (BSTDC). An MOU was signed between the lessee and Welcomhotel (ITC Group) for the operation of the hotel. This initiative is being considered an important step towards developing world class tourism infrastructure in Bihar.

In the program, ITC Group Managing Director Anil Chadda and Kalshi Buildcon Director Sumeet Singh Kalshi signed the MoU and exchanged documents in the presence of Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary.

Tourism will get a new identity

Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary said that the Bihar government is continuously working for the overall development of the tourism sector in the state. Better facilities for tourists have been developed at Rajgir, Nalanda, Bodhgaya and other historical and religious places. He said that with the participation of reputed hospitality groups, the tourism sector of Bihar will gain a new identity and tourists coming from India and abroad will get world class facilities.

Employment and economic activities will get a boost

The Chief Minister expressed confidence that starting the operation of Hotel Ajatashatru as Welcomhotel by ITC will further strengthen the identity of Rajgir on the international tourism map. Besides this, new employment opportunities will be created at the local level and economic activities will also gain momentum.

The hotel will have 104 modern rooms

During the program, a presentation was given regarding the operation of Hotel Ajatashatru, Rajgir. It was told that the hotel complex spread over an area of ​​about 2.67 acres will be operated under the Welcomhotel by ITC brand. The hotel will have 104 modern rooms, a large banquet hall and hospitality facilities as per international standards.

Target to start operations by March 1, 2027

It was told in the presentation that the target has been set to complete the project by March 1, 2027 and start the operation of the hotel. This will provide high quality accommodation and hospitality services to domestic and foreign tourists coming to Rajgir.
