Bihar’s Rs 1.25 lakh bounty criminal Lallan Singh killed in Saharanpur encounter
Saharanpur: A notorious Bihar-based criminal, Lallan Singh alias Lalan Singh, who carried a total bounty of Rs 1.25 lakh, was killed in an encounter with the Uttar Pradesh STF and police in Saharanpur on Monday morning.
The encounter took place on the Sarsawa-Nakur road during a police checking operation. According to police officials, the team signaled suspicious persons to stop, but they allegedly opened fire. In retaliatory action, Lallan Singh sustained bullet injuries and was rushed to a hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
One of his accomplices managed to escape under the cover of darkness. Police teams have launched raids to trace and arrest him.
Criminal From Bihar’s Samastipur
Police said Lallan Singh was a resident of Anandgolwa village under Mohiuddinnagar police station area in Bihar’s Samastipur district. He had been absconding for a long time and was wanted in several serious criminal cases across Bihar and Uttar Pradesh.
Reward of Rs 1.25 Lakh
A total reward of Rs 1.25 lakh had been announced for his arrest. The Varanasi Police Commissionerate had declared a reward of ₹1 lakh, while Chandauli police had announced Rs 25,000.
Accused in Murders, Robberies and Attacks on Police
According to police records, Lallan Singh was involved in multiple serious crimes, including murder, bank robbery, cash van loot, weapon theft and attacks on police personnel.
Police said he was accused in seven murder cases. The victims reportedly included two Sub-Inspectors, a bank cashier and a private security guard.
Wanted in 2022 Varanasi Case
Lallan Singh was also wanted in a sensational 2022 case in Varanasi, where a Sub-Inspector was shot and his service pistol was looted. His name had also surfaced in firing and robbery cases in Chandauli.
Police officials said he had allegedly carried out several major crimes with the help of his brothers and other gang members.
Search On for Escaped Accomplice
After the encounter, police intensified search operations in nearby areas and suspected hideouts. Officials said efforts are underway to arrest the absconding accomplice.
The Saharanpur encounter is being seen as a major action by the Uttar Pradesh STF and police against organized criminal networks operating across state borders.
