Bill made a law against sacrilege of Sri Guru Granth Sahib, CM Mann praised Waheguru and Sangat
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Sunday announced that the bill passed in the Punjab Assembly against sacrilege of Sri Guru Granth Sahib has now officially become a law after getting the approval of the Governor. This is a necessary legal step to protect the integrity of the holy book.
What did Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann say?
In a post on X, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said, "Governor Gulab Chand Kataria has signed the bill passed in the Assembly against sacrilege of Sri Guru Granth Sahib. Now this bill has become law. I am very thankful to Waheguru that he has blessed this humble servant for such service. Heartfelt thanks to the entire company."
Punjab Cabinet Minister Harjot Singh Bains said this development is for all. "Very auspicious and historic moment" told. He said, "This is a very auspicious and historic moment for everyone. The bill passed on the occasion of Baisakhi on April 13 has now come into force as ‘Shri Guru Granth Sahib Ji Satkar Act, 2026’. I congratulate not only the Sikhs but people of all religions who have faith in Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, because this law reflects the common faith and sentiments of crores of people."

Cabinet Minister Baljit Kaur said, “This is a memorable and historic day. This law will act as a strong deterrent against those who commit incidents of sacrilege with the intention of creating division in the society. The Mann government has done what previous governments could not do despite claiming to protect religious values. This law will ensure strict punishment and promote communal harmony by stopping attempts to spread hatred in the name of religion.”
MLA Dr. Inderbir Singh Nijjar said, “This is a historic day for Punjab. This bill was passed in the Assembly without any opposition and now it has got the assent of the Governor. I give credit to Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann for introducing this bill with courage and honesty and I hope that the strict rules of law will completely stop the incidents of sacrilege as the culprits will now think twice before committing such acts.”
MP Malvinder Singh Kang said, “This law is an important step towards fulfilling the long-standing demand of strict punishment against sacrilege of Sikhs across the world. This will create fear among those committing such acts and ensure justice. Expressing similar views, party leaders said that the implementation of this law sends a clear message that sacrilege will not be tolerated at any cost. He said that this law will protect religious harmony and maintain the dignity of all sacred texts. Aam Aadmi Party General Secretary and Advisor to the Tourism and Cultural Affairs Department, Deepak Bali, today said that the Honorable Governor has signed the anti-sacrilege bill passed by the Punjab Assembly, due to which the bill has now taken the form of law.

Deepak Bali said that this is a historic day for Punjab and this law is a big change towards maintaining our religious sentiments and the dignity of Guru Sahiban. He made it clear that now any kind of disrespect to Guru Granth Sahib Ji will not be tolerated at all.
He said in strong words that no so-called sectarian party has ever made such a law by taking votes and forming governments in the name of sect. Aam Aadmi Party has proved that it will never hesitate in making the strictest law to protect the honor of Guru Sahiban. In the end, he heartily congratulated Chief Minister Sardar Bhagwant Singh Mann and his entire team for this historic work.
