Demand to extend Dullabhchhada-Badarpur afternoon train to Silchar intensifies in Sribhoomi district

Shribhoomi: The demand to extend the afternoon train service operated on Dullabhchhada-Badarpur railway section to Silchar in Shribhoomi district is gaining momentum. Local residents and conscious citizens have appealed to the Railway Ministry for immediate intervention regarding this issue. According to the local people, at the time of meter gauge, this train used to leave from Dulabhchhada at around 2:30 pm and reach Silchar at around 8 pm. He says that resumption of this service will provide great relief to the passengers and will also increase the income of the Railways.

At present, this train service number 55689 is limited only to Dullabchhada and Badarpur, due to which the passengers going to Silchar are facing huge inconvenience. Employees, businessmen and the general public are being affected the most due to non-availability of reliable trains, especially during the afternoon.

Local citizens believe that if this train service is extended to Silchar, not only the number of passengers will increase but the income of the Railways will also increase. Also, the overall transportation system of Barak Valley will be further strengthened. The residents of the area have demanded the Railway Ministry and the concerned authorities to take concrete steps in this direction soon, so that this important train service can be restarted like before in the interest of the general public.
