Bill related to women’s reservation dropped in Lok Sabha, Amit Shah said – celebrating and chanting opposition’s enthusiasm is condemnable

The bill related to the Women’s Reservation Act could not be passed in the Lok Sabha on Friday, 17 April 2026. There was a debate in the House for two days regarding this bill. The opposition also raised many questions on the government. On behalf of the Central Government, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had sought support from all political parties for these bills, but still the government did not get the support of the opposition. To pass this bill, two-thirds of 326 votes were required in the House, but 298 votes were cast in favor of the bill, while 230 votes were cast against it. Thus this bill could not be passed in the Lok Sabha.

Amit Shah’s reaction on the failure of women’s reservation bill in Lok Sabha

After the failure of this bill in the Lok Sabha, the first reaction of Union Home Minister Amit Shah has come to the fore. He shared a post on social media X and said, a very strange scene was seen in the Lok Sabha today. He said that Congress, TMC, DMK and Samajwadi Party did not allow the necessary constitutional amendment bill to be passed for the Nari Shakti Vandan Act. Rejecting the bill giving 33% reservation to women, celebrating it and shouting victory over it is really condemnable and unthinkable.

The Union Minister said that now the women of the country will not get 33% reservation in the Lok Sabha and state assemblies, which was their right. Congress and its allies have done this not for the first time, but again and again. Their thinking is neither in the interest of women nor of the country. Amit Shah said, I want to tell them that this insult to women power will not stop here, it will go far and wide. The opposition will have to face ‘women’s anger’ not only in the 2029 Lok Sabha elections, but at every level, in every election and everywhere.

Protest by NDA women MPs in Parliament premises

Let us inform that after the Constitution (131st Amendment) Bill, 2026 could not be passed in the Lok Sabha, women MPs of NDA protested in the Parliament premises. BJP MP Poonamben Madam said that it was decided in 2023 that the Women’s Reservation Bill would be implemented across the country by the 2029 general elections. When the government brought this bill, the Indi alliance led by Rahul Gandhi completely opposed it and stopped the bill from being passed. The women of the country will not forgive Rahul Gandhi and the Indi alliance. He did a great injustice and cheated the women of the country.
