BJP Candidates List: New Delhi. BJP has announced the names of 8 candidates for the Rajya Sabha elections from Uttar Pradesh. The party has fielded candidates Dharampal Singh, Radhakant Ojha, Prakash Pal, Vidyasagar Sonkar, Gopi Krishna Pandey, Priyanka Singh Rawat, Ram Pratap Singh Chauhan and Shruti Gangwar. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has extended best wishes to all the candidates for victory.
Representation of OBC, SC and women in the list
The list released by BJP includes 3 OBC, 2 SC and 3 general category candidates. There are also 2 women among them. The candidates include 2 Brahmins and 1 Rajput. In the OBC category, there are 1 Lodhi, 1 Pal and 1 Kurmi candidates.
Dharampal Singh comes from Lodhi community and is a cabinet minister in the Yogi government. Prakash Pal is a regional minister in the organization and comes from the Pal community. Vidyasagar Sonkar belongs to Dalit community.
Dharampal Singh He is a senior BJP leader from Amla in Bareilly. He has been MLA several times and is handling the responsibility of Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development Department.
Vidyasagar Sonkar He is a senior leader of Jaunpur and Eastern UP. He was elected MP from Saidpur in 1996.
Priyanka Singh Rawat Is a former Lok Sabha MP. He won the election from Barabanki in 2014.
Ram Pratap Singh Chauhan He is a senior organization leader of UP BJP.
Prakash Pal He is the President of UP BJP OBC Morcha.
New faces got a chance
This time BJP has given a chance to all the new faces for the Rajya Sabha elections. Old faces have not been made candidates this time. These include Arun Singh, Seema Dwivedi, BL Verma, Hardeep Singh Puri, Neeraj Shekhar, Brijlal, Dinesh Sharma and Geeta Shakya. Dinesh Sharma is now the Lieutenant Governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The party has started preparations for the Rajya Sabha elections with new names.
