Before this, June 6th The court sentenced Raju Kumar Singh to the Indian Penal Code on Section 304 (Part-II) (culpable homicide) and Section 30 of Arms Act Was convicted under. The court accepted that Dr. Archana Gupta died from the same bullet which was fired by Raju Singh.

After the sentencing, the court ordered Raju Singh to be immediately sent to judicial custody. He was out on bail in this case since February 2019.

While demanding reduction in the punishment, Raju Singh argued in the court that there was no intention of murder behind the incident. The defense also argued that the accused cooperated in immediately taking the victim to the hospital after the incident and there was no conviction against him in any other case. It was also said that if the sentence had been less than two years, his life could have been saved.

However, the court did not consider these arguments as grounds for adequate relief and sentenced him to four years’ imprisonment. Whereas, in this case Raju Singh’s wife Renu Singh Two other accused were acquitted due to lack of evidence.
