New Delhi, Jul 24 (PTI) The BJP on Friday said the NDA government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership is making efforts to resolve students’ issues by strengthening the system with “utmost sensitivity” but the opposition is trying to “cunningly” create “chaos and conflict”.
Hitting out at the opposition, BJP national spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi also accused the Congress and its allies of running away from a debate in Parliament on the NEET paper leak issue.
“Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the BJP-NDA government is making continuous efforts to resolve students’ issues by strengthening the system with utmost sensitivity. But the opposition is attempting to cunningly create chaos and conflict,” Trivedi told reporters here.
The BJP Rajya Sabha MP said the government is ready for discussion with an open mind on the NEET paper leak issue. But the Congress party and its allies are running away from discussion in Parliament, he charged.
“First, the opposition demanded that a discussion should be held in Parliament. When the government said it is ready for the discussion, the opposition said discussion should be held under a particular rule,” Trivedi said, accusing the Congress and its allies of repeatedly shifting the goalpost.
“Sometimes, they raise one issue, sometimes another… The attitude of the opposition is extremely irresponsible and condemnable,” the BJP Rajya Sabha MP charged.
Trivedi also hit out at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, alleging that the Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha is indulging in “theatrics on streets” every day instead of participating in debate on the NEET paper leak issue.
“He is undermining the seriousness of this issue with his theatrics,” the BJP leader charged.
The BJP’s response came after the first week of the Monsoon session of Parliament was washed out as the government and the opposition continued to be at loggerheads over the demand for Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation before a debate on the NEET paper leak issue in both Houses.
In the first week of the session, both Houses could not take up any legislative agenda except for the introduction of a bill each in the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha.
In the Lok Sabha, a bill to replace an Ordinance which increased the number of judges of the Supreme Court from 34 to 38 was introduced but could not be taken up for consideration and passage despite being listed every day.
In the Rajya Sabha, a bill was introduced on Friday to make insult to the national song Vande Mataram a criminal offence, despite being listed for introduction on multiple days. PTI
