Preparations for the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections 2027 have started in full swing. The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party, the main opposition parties Samajwadi Party and Congress are active from the ground to the media-social media. They are engaged in the process of selection of candidates by holding meetings in every zone of the state. Apart from this, all these parties are using every political trick so that they can reach the top of power. But, among these three parties, there is also a strong party, which is lying almost inactive. That party is none other than the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), which ruled Uttar Pradesh four times till 2012.
Bahujan Samaj Party, which has a strong hold on the Dalit voters of the state, is lying so inactive even as the elections are nearing that its core voters are being closely monitored by BJP, SP and Congress. All these parties want to win over Dalit voters to their side. Everyone is making every possible effort for this, but BSP does not seem to be making any effort to stop its voters.

Battle to woo BSP's core voters
BJP and Samajwadi Party are at the forefront in wooing the core voters of BSP. In this also, BJP, while being in government, is taking such steps to get the Dalit voters to press the 'lotus button' in the elections so that it gets power in UP for the third time.
'Dr. BR Ambedkar Murti Vikas Yojana'
Actually, Yogi Adityanath government of UP is now going to install statues in the state at a cost of Rs 403 crore. This expenditure will be completely borne by the government treasury of UP. The name of this scheme is 'Dr. BR Ambedkar Murti Vikas Yojana'. The government has already passed the budget for this.
It has been provisioned that statues will be installed at 10 places in each of the 403 assemblies of UP. Where statues are already installed, they will be raised only there. Also, Rs 10 lakh each will be spent on each idol. In this way, Rs 1 crore will be spent in one assembly.
What will the government do in the scheme?
Among these statue installations, the maximum statue of Dr. Ambedkar will be installed. After this, statues of Saint Kabir Das, Saint Ravidas, Jyotiba Phule, Maharishi Valmiki will be installed. Under this, boundary wall, umbrella, beautification, lightning and greenery will be developed near the idols.
The objective of this scheme is to preserve and honor the statues of great men who dedicated their lives for social justice. The main objective of this scheme is to honor and maintain the statues of all those great men and personalities including Baba Saheb Bhimrao Ambedkar who dedicated their lives for social justice and social reform.

Why is BJP taking these steps?
In fact, great men like Baba Saheb Bhimrao Ambedkar, Sant Kabir Das, Sant Ravidas, Jyotiba Phule and Maharishi Valmiki are the biggest sources of inspiration for Dalits. There is so much respect for these great men in this society that one becomes emotional as soon as their names are mentioned. These great men rose from the lowest rung of the society and touched the top. BSP has been out of power for a long time and the party chief has been inactive since the 2017 Assembly and 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
BJP will attack SP
This is the reason why Dalit votes are continuously slipping from their hands. In the 2022 assembly elections and 2024 Lok Sabha elections, it was clearly seen that the votes of Dalits are slipping from the hands of BSP. Whereas at one time this same society did not vote for any party other than BSP. Political experts and statistics show that in the last several elections, BJP has been somewhat successful in winning over this class.
Samajwadi Party has defeated BJP in UP by giving the slogan of PDA (Backward, Dalit, Minority) in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. In such a situation, BJP has come up with a plan to install statues of Dalit messiah Dr. Ambedkar and other great men to woo BSP voters to counter SP.
