BJP’s strong reply to Mamata’s statement ‘will stop eating fish’, candidate did unique campaign by wearing jewelery on fish

Kolkata: The campaign for West Bengal Assembly elections is now going on in a unique style. Both BJP and Trinamool Congress are using fish as an election weapon. On the day of Bengali New Year, candidates from both the parties carried out a road show with fish, which left people astonished.

Mamata Banerjee is saying in every meeting that if BJP comes to power, people in Bengal will not be able to eat fish and meat. To prove this allegation wrong, BJP started a unique campaign.

BJP candidate from Kolkata Port Assembly constituency Rakesh Singh campaigned on the morning of Bengali New Year wearing traditional dhoti-kurta and holding big fishes in both his hands. He told the people that eating fish will never stop if the BJP government comes to power. This propaganda was giving the message of saving the fish loving culture of Bengal.

Attacking TMC candidate Firhad Hakim, Rakesh Singh said that he has not done anything for the area in the last 15 years. The youth did not get jobs nor was any development work done. That’s why this time people are with BJP.

TMC also did not lag behind on this issue. TMC candidate from Tollygunge assembly seat Arup Biswas also campaigned with fish in both hands on New Year’s Day. He warned the voters that if BJP comes to power, Bengalis will stop eating fish and meat.

In this way, both the parties are making fish a main part of the election campaign while blaming each other. Fish has special importance in the culture of Bengal, hence this issue is directly affecting the people.

Voters’ reaction

Local people of Kolkata Port area said that no one can stop Bengalis from eating fish and meat. Many voters found this unique campaign amusing, but some said that real issues like employment, roads and development should also be addressed.
