Police have arrested a person in Maharajganj, Uttar Pradesh. He is accused of posting an edited video on social media showing the explosion in the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) camp on the India-Nepal border. After his video went viral, continuous questions were being asked from the police. The accused has been identified as Faiyaz Ahmed. Parasamlik police of Maharajganj arrested him on Wednesday. He was later produced before the court in a case of disturbing peace.
According to the police, this video is of nine seconds. In this, Ahmed is seen standing in a field and pointing towards the camera. After this, through editing, a big explosion and flames have been shown in the SSB camp located at Sevtari. The 22nd battalion of the force is deployed in this camp. 'Copy Now' was written in big letters on the video. Police made it clear that the video was tampered. There was no actual blast in the SSB camp.
Security agencies alerted
Officials said the video was made targeting a sensitive installation guarding the India-Nepal border. This video came to the notice of police and SSB officials. After this, security and intelligence agencies were alerted.

Additional Superintendent of Police Siddharth said that investigation was started after receiving information about the video. Its source was traced through digital surveillance. He said that the police also traced the account sharing the video. After this Faiyaz Ahmed was identified and arrested.

Investigation of social media activities
The officer said that the video was later removed from the accused's Instagram account. Considering the sensitivity of the matter, the police is also investigating his social media activities. Siddharth said that a case has been registered against the accused under relevant sections. He has been presented in the court. The circumstances surrounding the making and dissemination of the video are being further investigated.
