Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat reacted to the student protest at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar against the NEET paper leak. He said, “In our time, we never questioned elders. When I was the age of today’s ‘Gen-ji’, our generation listened to whatever the elders said. But today’s Gen-ji demands logical answers.”
Speaking at the Gen-Z and Gen Alpha conference in Mumbai, Mohan Bhagwat said that Generation Z and Generation Alpha are honest generations. As for Gen-Z and what has happened recently, their grievances are justified. In a democracy, agitation and demonstrations are a way to reach consensus. Protests are a form of dialogue.
Education budget should be 6 percent
Bhagwat said, “I have blind faith in Gen-G. The education budget should be 6%. The Gen-G movement is not against the country.” He advocated for reforms in the education system, saying that Gen-G is also ours. Dialogue is essential. Bhagwat also acknowledged some flaws in the education system and said that these must be corrected. He also said that some discipline is necessary on social media.
Why was the pellet gun used?
Bhagwat also mentioned the police action, the lathi charge, and the pellet gun attack, saying, “Why was there a lathi attack? Pellet guns were used, and the reasons behind it need to be studied.” Bhagwat said that education is not a business. We must provide education to everyone. The fee structure needs to be addressed.
