Three schools in Delhi received bomb threats on Tuesday morning, prompting authorities to evacuate students and launch extensive security checks across the premises.

The British School, Sanskriti School and Sardar Patel Vidyalaya received the threats via email, following which Delhi Police, bomb detection and disposal teams, dog squads and Delhi Fire Services were deployed.

Police said the threats were reported by the schools in the New Delhi district between 10:30 am and 10:45 am.

Students evacuated as security checks launched

The school premises were evacuated as a precautionary measure after the threats were received.

Police and security teams subsequently carried out detailed anti-sabotage checks at the three schools.

Officials said nothing suspicious had been found so far during the searches.

The police are also examining the threat emails and working to identify the sender.

Sardar Patel Vidyalaya issues message to parents

Sardar Patel Vidyalaya informed parents that all students had been safely evacuated from the premises.

In a message, the school said the police had been informed and were taking necessary steps following the security threat.

The school also said students had been in the middle of their examinations when the threat was received.

According to the school, Middle School students had completed their examinations, while Senior School students had completed most of their exams.

The school said it would assess the situation before taking a decision on the remaining Senior School examinations and would communicate further details to parents.

Parents said Tuesday was the first day of the half-yearly examinations at the school and that the bomb threat led to an immediate evacuation.

Police probe underway

Delhi Police said a probe is underway to determine the origin of the threatening emails and establish whether there was any genuine security threat.

Authorities have urged schools and parents to follow security instructions while the investigation and anti-sabotage checks continue.
