Luxury car manufacturer BMW Group has officially started booking its new electric sedan i5 Long Wheelbase (LWB) First Edition in India. During the launch event of the new X1 LWB, the company clarified that only 99 units of this first edition model will be sold in India.
Performance, battery and range
The BMW i5 LWB designed for the Indian market has a single electric motor on the rear axle, which generates power of 268hp. According to the company’s claims, this electric sedan accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.7 seconds.
It has a high-voltage battery pack of 81.6kWh. According to MIDC cycle testing, this car gives a driving range of up to 669 kilometers on a single full charge.
Indian road friendly suspension
Keeping in mind the Indian road conditions, this model has adaptive rear-axle air suspension and increased ground clearance. This reduces the risk of damage to the underbody and battery pack of the car on bad roads.
Interior features and exterior design
The cabin of the First Edition variant gets a special entertainment package for the rear passengers, which includes a tablet and tablet holder. The interiors get BMW Individual Silver Bronze accents, fineline open-pored wood trim and a special ‘First Edition’ laser engraving on the dashboard.
The exterior of the car uses carbon black metallic paint along with titanium bronze accents on the front grille and body trim.
