Brazil held to 1-1 draw by Morocco in World Cup Group C clash
Brazil and Morocco shared the points in a 1-1 draw after an entertaining Group C World Cup clash at MetLife Stadium.
Morocco controlled much of the opening half and deservedly took the lead in the 21st minute when Brahim Diaz threaded a pass to Ismael Saibari, who chipped the ball over Alisson. Brazil responded 11 minutes later as Bruno Guimaraes won possession and set up Vinicius Junior, who cut inside from the left and curled a shot into the far corner for the equalizer.
Morocco dominated possession and created more chances early on, while Brazil improved after a hydration break and looked more dangerous following halftime. Goalkeepers Yassine Bounou and Alisson both produced key saves to keep the score level, with Alisson denying Neil El Aynaoui and Ayoube Amaimouni in stoppage time after a dramatic late scramble.
Both teams made several substitutions in the second half, but neither could find a winner as Morocco defended resolutely and Brazil failed to capitalize on their attacking moments.
The draw leaves both sides satisfied ahead of their next Group C fixtures, with Brazil set to face Haiti and Morocco taking on Scotland.
