In the case of rape and murder of a minor in Mehrauli area of Delhi, the police can file a charge sheet of more than 1500 pages in the court within a week. The charge sheet included detailed details of the activities of the accused cab driver and the events related to the incident. After the incident, the accused tried to hide the body. During this time he forgot his driving license at the spot itself. Police have considered the driving license as an important evidence in the investigation of the case. According to the charge sheet, accused Bashu Kumar Singh (29) had reached Mehrauli about an hour before the kidnapping of the girl. Initially he drove the car near the footpath where the girl was sleeping with her parents and three younger siblings. After this he kept roaming in the area and later returned near the same place. Police allege that while trying to hide the dead body after the incident, the accused's driving license fell on the spot in his haste. The police have considered this as important evidence in the investigation of the case. After this the accused took the body to a deserted place, where an attempt was made to hide it under three big stones.
89 pages of photos and technical evidence
The charge sheet contains about 89 pages of photographs and other visual evidence. These include photographs of the accused's car, the girl's family sleeping on the footpath, the accused's travel routes and the place where the body was later found. The time recorded in the photographs helped investigators match the movements of the accused before and after the incident. The police verified the incident narrated by the accused on the basis of his statement and CCTV footage. Besides, photographs of the car obtained from Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras were also made a part of the investigation. Through these records, the movement of the accused's cab and the events narrated by him were matched. After coming from Gurugram, Singh had dropped a passenger at Sangam Vihar. After this, he canceled two more rides in the span of about two and a half hours. Police allege that instead of taking another ride, he kept roaming in the same area from where the girl was later picked up.
Father woke up hearing noise
According to investigators, Singh had reached the spot about an hour before the alleged kidnapping and remained there for some time. Police allege that he took the girl away from there at around 4:15 in the morning. While taking the girl towards the car, the father woke up due to her noise. The father tried to save the girl by chasing the vehicle for some distance, but could not reach the accused's car.
The cause of death was said to be strangulation and suffocation.
In the charge sheet, the cause of death of the girl has been stated as strangulation and suffocation. The accused had allegedly used a pot, which was later recovered from the spot. The document also mentions that the accused had hit the girl on her face with a stone. The police have also made the post-mortem report and other forensic evidence part of the investigation in the case. The accused was arrested within about 6 hours of the incident. On his information, the girl's body was recovered about 11 to 12 hours after the incident.
