Bribe taker arrested in Begusarai, caught by Vigilance as soon as he took Rs 5,000

The campaign of Surveillance Investigation Bureau against corruption continues continuously in Bihar. On Monday, the Vigilance team took major action in Begusarai and arrested a clerk of the Assistant Controller of Weights and Measures office red handed while taking a bribe of Rs 5,000. There was a stir in the government department after the action.
The arrested accused has been identified as Pushkar Kumar, a clerk working in the weighing office. It is being told that he was demanding bribe from a local businessman in the name of renewal of Batkhara license.
Bribe was being demanded in exchange for license renewal
According to the information, the businessman was visiting the office to renew his Batkhara license. The allegation is that his work was not being carried forward without paying bribe. The distressed businessman complained about this directly to the Surveillance Investigation Bureau based in Patna.

After receiving the complaint, the monitoring team first got the case verified. When the allegations were found to be true, a special team was formed and a trap was laid. As per the planned plan, as soon as the businessman gave Rs 5,000 to the accused clerk on Monday, the vigilance team already present at the spot caught him red handed.
Bribe amount was also recovered during the raid. After the arrest, the accused has been taken to Patna for questioning. Surveillance police case number 62/26 has been registered in this case.
Now even big officials are under suspicion
If sources are to be believed, the Surveillance Bureau has now started investigating this entire network. It is feared that other employees or officers of the office may also be involved in this game of bribery. Preparations are also underway to investigate the assets and sources of income of the accused clerk.
Vigilance appeal to the public
The monitoring department has clearly said that the campaign against corruption will continue in future also. The department has appealed to the people to immediately report if any government officer or employee asks for bribe in exchange for work. The identity of the complainant will be kept completely confidential.
