Digital Desk Lucknow: Preparations for the 18th BRICS summit in the capital Delhi are in the final stages. In view of the conference, security arrangements have been tightened in major VVIP areas including New Delhi and Lutyens Delhi. Many levels of security have been created from the airport to Bharat Mandapam and the hotels where foreign representatives stay.
Delhi Police and paramilitary forces have been deployed in sensitive areas in view of the movement of foreign guests attending the conference. According to officials, about 15 thousand policemen and 200 companies of paramilitary forces have been deployed for security. At the same time, information about deployment of more than 30 thousand security forces for security arrangements has also come to light.
More than 500 CCTVs in VVIP areas
More than 500 CCTV cameras have been installed to monitor VVIP areas. These also include face recognition systems and cameras that recognize vehicle number plates. A central control room has been set up to monitor these cameras, from where activities in different areas are being monitored.
Several levels of security have also been created in hotels where foreign guests stay. By dividing VVIP areas into different zones, the responsibility of each zone has been given to a DCP. Special security arrangements have also been made during the movement of delegates between the airport, hotel and conference venue.
Roads will be closed only during VVIP movement
According to Delhi Police, roads will not remain continuously closed for the common people. Some routes will be closed or diverted for some time as per the timing and requirement of VVIP movement.
Police have appealed to people to avoid the affected roads and use alternative routes. Normally there will be no restrictions on Delhi Metro service during the BRICS Summit. That is, there may be temporary changes on the road route, but passengers traveling by metro will get the facility to travel normally.
Rashtrapati Bhavan Museum and Amrit Udyan closed
In view of the BRICS Summit, some major tourist places of Delhi have also been kept closed for three days. According to officials, Rashtrapati Bhavan Museum and Amrit Udyan will remain closed for visitors from Friday to Sunday.
There will be no 'Change of Guard' ceremony to be organized in the Rashtrapati Bhavan complex on Saturday.
Delhi Metro has also decided to keep its museum located at Supreme Court Metro Station closed for three days from Friday.
What will open in Delhi, what will remain closed?
These decisions are aimed at facilitating the movement of BRICS delegates and controlling crowding around the summit venue. Due to security reasons, movement of common people may be limited in some areas.
Delhi government has already declared holiday in its offices on September 11. An official circular has also been issued by the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions regarding the holiday on that day in Central Government offices.
Impact on traffic from 2 pm to 8:30 pm
Delhi Police has issued a traffic advisory regarding BRICS Summit. According to this, traffic will be diverted and controlled on major routes of Delhi from 2 pm to 8:30 pm.
Police have appealed to travelers to plan their journey before leaving home and allow extra time. Especially it has been advised to use public transport and metro.
Passengers have been asked to follow the prescribed diversion routes and instructions of traffic policemen. According to the police, vehicles related to emergency and essential services will be given priority way.
22 diversion points made in Delhi
According to Additional Police Commissioner (Traffic) Dinesh Kumar Gupta, advisories are being issued through Delhi Police website, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and print media to inform people about the traffic system.
He said that 22 diversion points have been made to control the traffic. From these designated locations, traffic will be sent to alternative routes as per need. Policemen have also been instructed to provide information about the diverted routes to the passengers.
The date of National Lok Adalat also changed
Due to BRICS Summit, the dates related to judicial work have also been changed. According to the advisory of Delhi Traffic Police, the Rashtriya Lok Adalat scheduled to be held on September 12 will now be held on October 10.
At the same time, there will be a holiday in the lower courts on 11th and 12th September. The cases scheduled for both these dates will be heard on September 14.
The police have appealed to the general public and cab drivers to check the traffic advisory issued regarding the routes that will be affected during the BRICS Summit and plan their journey accordingly.
