Budapest Ranking Series: Olympic medalist Aman Sehrawat bags a gold medal

Olympic Bronze Medalist Aman Sehrawat delivered a commanding performance to clinch the gold medal in the men’s 57kg freestyle category at the Budapest Ranking Series 2026 on Wednesday.

Continuing his impressive form on the global circuit, Aman Sehrawat outclassed Georgia’s Roberti Dingashvili with a decisive 13-3 victory in the championship bout.

The 22-year-old freestyle wrestler showed complete dominance, winning three of the four bouts on technical superiority en route to the gold medal.

In the 61kg freestyle category, Deepak scripted an outstanding comeback from 0-8 down to edge out Azerbaijan’s Nuraddin Novruzov 9-8 in the bronze medal bout.

Vishal Kaliramana added another medal for India, winning 8-2 against Kazakh wrestler Ossumzhan Dastanbek in the 65 kg bronze medal bout.

Meanwhile, his compatriot Mohit Kumar lost his bronze medal bout in the same category, going down 2-12 to Kazakhstan’s Nachyn Kuular.

The contingent will look to build on this momentum on Thursday as action resumes in the remaining men’s freestyle weight categories, 79kg, 92kg, 97kg, and 125kg.

Additionally, India’s women’s wrestling campaign will also kick off on Thursday, featuring competition in the 50kg and 55kg weight divisions.
