Bulldozer ran on Abhishek Banerjee’s MP office, building demolished with 3 JCB on charges of illegal construction
Knews Desk- The administration has taken major action at the office of Trinamool Congress (TMC) national general secretary and Diamond Harbor MP Abhishek Banerjee in South 24 Parganas district of West Bengal. On Saturday, the MP office located in Amtala area was demolished with the help of a bulldozer. The administration claims that this construction was done without an approved building plan.
A large number of police forces and administrative officials were present at the spot during the demolition of the office. Three JCB machines were deployed to demolish this building located on Amtala-Baruipur Road. Before the action, the entire area was surrounded by barricades and strict security arrangements were made.
Allegation of construction without permission
Earlier, a notice was pasted at the office by the administration. Officials allege that the building was constructed without necessary permissions and approved maps. It was told that notices were sent to Abhishek Banerjee twice for hearing in this case, but no one appeared on the scheduled dates. After this the administration took demolition action.
Heavy security arrangements at the spot
Officials from many departments including police, central force, fire department, BDO and BLRO were present during the action. The entire area was kept under security cordon. The administration removed the building structure and shed in a phased manner. According to the information, this office was closed since the assembly election results were declared.
Notices were issued regarding 17 properties
This action has come at a time when Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) has issued notices regarding 17 properties belonging to Abhishek Banerjee, people related to his family and his company ‘Leaps and Bounds’. These include his residence ‘Santiniketan’ located on Harish Mukherjee Road, Kolkata.
Earlier, BJP had released a list of many properties related to Abhishek Banerjee and alleged that some of these properties were jointly owned with his associates.
No response from TMC yet
At present, no official statement has come from Abhishek Banerjee or Trinamool Congress regarding this action. At the same time, after the change of power in Bengal, administrative action has been taken against the properties of many TMC leaders and people associated with them. Earlier, a cafe belonging to the son of TMC leader Saukat Molla in South 24 Parganas was also removed over alleged encroachment.
