Bushra Ansari stresses need for mutual respect in

Veteran actress Bushra Ansari has stressed the need for mutual respect and professionalism in the entertainment industry, responding strongly to recent remarks made by fellow actor Firdous Jamal.

In a video shared on her YouTube channel, Ansari expressed disappointment over Jamal’s comments about colleagues in the industry, saying his statements had crossed acceptable boundaries. Known for her candid and direct approach, she said such public criticism reflects poorly on professional ethics.

Without directly naming him throughout her remarks, Ansari referred to Jamal as an “accomplished actor” but criticized his use of words like “selfish,” “showpiece,” and “mediocre” to describe fellow performers. She said she would never use such language about colleagues, even in disagreement.

She emphasized that improving performance is the responsibility of directors and constructive guidance, not public humiliation or online criticism.

Ansari also addressed comments made about deceased actors, stating that it is a basic ethical principle not to speak ill of the dead. She referred to respected figures such as Talat Hussain, Abid Ali, and Shafi Muhammad Shah, saying derogatory remarks about them were inappropriate and hurtful.

She further advised Jamal to reflect on the impact of his words, particularly on younger audiences and the families of those mentioned. “Get a hold of yourself, please, get some rest,” she said, urging restraint and self-reflection.

The actress also highlighted the importance of maintaining courtesy in interviews and podcasts, noting that many have forgotten basic manners in public discourse. She praised veteran interviewers such as Khushbakht Shujaat, Obaidullah Baig, Mehtab Rashdi, and Tariq Aziz for their respectful and dignified approach.

Ansari’s comments came in response to a recent interview by Jamal in which he criticized multiple actors while praising only Qavi Khan. The senior actor has previously faced backlash over controversial remarks, including statements made in a 2019 interview that resurfaced and drew criticism for being ageist and sexist.

The exchange has reignited debate within the industry over professionalism, public criticism, and the importance of maintaining respect in media discourse.
