New Delhi. The dates for the by-elections of two major assembly seats of West Bengal, Nandigram and Rejinagar, have been announced. Voting on both seats will be held on October 6, while counting of votes will be held on October 9. Both these seats are very popular. In such a situation, it is being said that TMC chief Mamata Banerjee can contest elections from Nandigram.

Actually, Nandigram seat became vacant after the resignation of Bharatiya Janata Party leader and current Chief Minister of West Bengal Subhendu Adhikari, while Rezinagar seat became vacant after the resignation of Humayun Kabir. The Election Commission said that the notification for the by-election will be issued on September 9. The last date for filing nominations is September 16, while the scrutiny of nomination papers will take place on September 17. Candidates can withdraw their nomination till September 19.
With the announcement of Nandigram by-election, speculation has intensified in political circles whether Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee will once again enter the political fray of Nandigram to enter the assembly. Apart from the two seats of Bengal, the Commission has also announced the dates of by-elections of Tamil Nadu (2 seats), Puducherry (1 seat) and Assam (1 Assembly seat and Nagaon Lok Sabha seat).
