Cabinet expansion of BJP government in West Bengal, 35 new ministers took oath
West Bengal : : The BJP government led by Chief Minister Shubhendu Adhikari in West Bengal on Monday made a major expansion of its cabinet. Governor R.N. at the swearing-in ceremony held at Raj Bhavan. Ravi administered the oath of office and secrecy to 35 new ministers. After this expansion, the total number of State Council of Ministers has increased to 41.
This step of the government is being considered important towards the political strategy of the coming years and strengthening the regional-social balance. By giving representation to different regions and communities in the cabinet, BJP has tried to achieve a broader social equation.
13 leaders got the status of cabinet minister
In the new cabinet, Deepak Burman, Tapas Rai, Dr. Shankar Ghosh, Manoj Kumar Oraon, Arjun Singh, Gauri Shankar Ghosh, Swapan Dasgupta, Jagannath Chattopadhyay, Kalyan Chakraborty, Ajay Poddar, Shardwat Mukherjee, Doodh Kumar Mandal and Anoop Kumar Das have been made cabinet ministers.
Three ministers in independent charge
Dr. Indranil Khan, Malti Rabha Rai and Rajesh Mahato have been given the responsibility of Ministers of State with independent charge. Apart from this, 19 other leaders have been included in the cabinet as ministers of state.
Focus on social and regional balance
Political experts believe that in the cabinet expansion, representation has been given keeping in mind the areas of North Bengal, Jangalmahal and South Bengal. With this, BJP has also tried to send a message to those sections who played an important role in the recent political change.
Glimpse of Bengali culture
During the swearing-in ceremony, most of the ministers appeared in the traditional Bengali attire ‘Dhoti-Punjabi’. This is being seen by the BJP as a sign of Bengal’s cultural identity and connection with local traditions.
The first cabinet meeting will be held today
After the cabinet expansion, all the ministers reached the state secretariat Navan, where Chief Minister Shubhendu Adhikari will preside over the first cabinet meeting. There is a possibility of allocation of portfolios of ministers in this meeting.
It is being told that in the division of departments, special importance will be given to regional needs and administrative priorities.
Many senior leaders were present
Many senior BJP leaders including Union Minister Sukant Majumdar, Shantanu Thakur, State BJP President Shamik Bhattacharya, Minister Agnimitra Pal were present in the ceremony. The program is being considered an important political milestone for the new government of West Bengal.
