Hoshiarpur- Punjab Jail and NRI Affairs Minister, Dr. Ravjot Singh, while inaugurating the newly constructed Aam Aadmi Clinic in the Central Jail here today, said that the Punjab Government is setting new standards in providing good health facilities in a very easy manner in every area of the state, thereby providing basic tests and medicines to the common people near their homes. Jail Minister Dr. Ravjot Singh said that the Punjab Government under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has opened 1090 Aam Aadmi Clinics in the state, where good health services, tests and medicines are being provided free of cost by strengthening the primary health care infrastructure by expert staff. He said that with the opening of the Aam Aadmi Clinic in the Central Jail of Hoshiarpur, the number of these clinics running in the district has increased to 77 and now the prisoners in the jail will get the facility of 45 types of tests in the jail itself, where they will also get more than 100 types of medicines free of cost.
Dr. Ravjot Singh said that the Punjab Government has opened Aam Aadmi Clinics in 8 jails of the state so that health facilities can be properly implemented for the prisoners in the jails. He said that medical officers, pharmacists, clinic assistants, helpers etc. have been deployed in these clinics in jails so that good health services can be provided. He said that the initial tests of more than 1400 prisoners lodged in Hoshiarpur jail will now be done in the Aam Aadmi Clinic inside the jail and necessary medicines will also be given from inside.
Regarding the health facilities being provided to the people in the Aam Aadmi Clinics, Cabinet Minister Dr. Ravjot Singh said that people are getting a lot of benefit from the facilities being provided in these clinics and till now 5.90 crore patients have got their check-ups done and out of the 990 clinics running earlier in the state, approximately 83 thousand people were taking health services daily. He said that now the number of these clinics has increased to 1090, more people will get the benefit of good health facilities. He said that till now about 3.5 crore tests have been conducted in these clinics. Dr. Ravjot Singh said that now the services of care, screening and diet management of pregnant women are also available in Aam Aadmi Clinic. He said that the Punjab Government has proposed to open 300 more Aam Aadmi Clinics in the coming time, so that people in every area of the state can get basic and good health services near their homes.
Jail Superintendent Harcharan Singh Gill, Civil Surgeon Dr. Mandeep Kamal gave detailed information about the setting up of Aam Aadmi Clinic in the jail, staff and facilities available. On this occasion, Additional Superintendent Harbans Singh, Deputy Superintendent Asha Rani, Urban Nodal Officer of Aam Aadmi Clinic Dr. Rohit Babuta, District Program Manager NHM Mohammad Asif were also present.
