Cambodia, which was the fourth largest source of Vietnam’s international tourists in the first quarter, dropped to sixth place over the first half. It sent 508,000 arrivals between January and June, up 41% year-on-year, according to the General Statistics Office.
The U.S. with 529,000 arrivals returned to the top five.
Japan, Vietnam’s fifth-largest source of international visitors last year, now fell to eighth place with 441,000 arrivals, up 12% from a year earlier.
Russia was Vietnam’s third-largest source of inbound tourists after mainland China, South Korea, and ahead of Taiwan, driven by the expansion of new direct and charter flights as well as favorable visa policies.
Vietnam received 12.3 million international visitors in the first six months of the year, a 14.9% increase from the same period last year, fueled by the country’s reputation as a safe destination amid global geopolitical uncertainty.
The country eyes 25 million foreign arrivals this year.
